I'm glad to see one of my gay brothers taking a reasoned stand on this. So many gay blogs are exploding over this news, and it leaves me banging my head against the desk.

Yes, I'm upset that Obama chose such an outspokenly anti-gay pastor for the invocation. But, Rick Warren is not only much better than Falwell or Robertson ever were and he is an excellent way to reach out to the other side and unite America at a time when we have huge challenges ahead of us.

Let's remind ourselves that THIS IS ONLY A SYMBOLIC GESTURE, very fit for religion, and does not necessarily reflect what will actually go on in the administration. Obama is a true ally, and before we hoop and holler and spit at what will probably be the most LGBT supportive administration, we need to take a breath and THINK.

They way I see it, I'm going to give Obama the benefit of the doubt here, and he sort of owes me. He has to prove through his actions in office that he's going to keep the promises he made to me and my LGBT brothers and sisters. Repeal DADT and DOMA and we'll be cool.

I usually don't write in livejournal, but I didn't want to sully my blogger blog with this nonsense. So I'm in a gay.com chat room (yes I know) and this guy messages me. I tell him that I like his bio line (it says that between meeting and sex comes conversation). I've annotated this with some things to consider. The name of the dumbfuck has been changed, and i changed my gay.com name for my own sake.
